A Gothic Supernatural Short Story

Some houses don’t want guests.

They want witnesses.

When historian Edward Darting accepts an invitation to stay at the remote Grantley Manor, he expects dust, old portraits, and a quiet night’s rest.

What he finds instead is a house that watches. A host who casts no shadow. A dinner prepared for only one. Candles that go out without wind. A crucifix that refuses to stay upright.

As midnight approaches, the manor begins to reveal its true nature — and its cruel sense of humour. What starts as unease turns into terror, and terror into a desperate fight to escape before the darkness closes in for good.

Grantley’s Last Laugh is a classic Gothic horror tale of isolation, psychological dread, and the terrifying realisation that some doors were never meant to be opened… and some hosts never truly leave.

Less than the cost of a cup of coffee — and far harder to forget.

A mansion of horror

Mr Darting is a historian visiting Grantley Mansion and is welcomed by his host, Mr Grantley. After a lavish dinner, Mr Darting retires to his room. He has a very unrestful night full of terror. An entertaining short read with a jaw dropping twist.
